Viyana, 31 Ocak 2026 – In an extraordinary display of discipline and athletic longevity, 75-year-old Ali Yavuz Kuşcu stepped into the ring with former WBA Cruiserweight World Champion Firat Arslan at Boxclub Wiener Linien. The exhibition match brought together two legends separated by 21 years in age but united by their unwavering commitment to the sport.
Firat Arslan, who made history by winning his second world championship at age 53 and breaking the legendary George Foreman's record as the oldest cruiserweight world champion, agreed to the unprecedented showdown. The match showcased not just technical skill, but the timeless truth that discipline knows no age limit.
Born April 27, 1951, in Istanbul, Ali Yavuz Kuşcu has been boxing for 59 years. Beyond his athletic achievements, he founded the Austrian-Turkish Trade Association in 1993 and has organized over 20 international economic conferences. In 2017, he was honored by TÜRYAK (Turkish Elderly Council Association) with the "Exemplary Senior Citizen" award. "A sound mind resides in a sound body," Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's famous words, have been Ali Yavuz Kuşcu's guiding principle for 59 years. Since beginning his boxing journey in 1966, Kuşcu has maintained an unwavering 5 AM training routine at Boxclub Wiener Linien, where he has been a member since 1980 under the guidance of trainer Naser Bayrami.
This marks Kuşcu's tenth exhibition match against world-class opponents, including champions Cemal Kamacı, Uwe Hück, Timmy Shala, and Hector Vincent Shanon. As President of the Austrian-Turkish Trade Association (ATTB) since 1993, Kuşcu bridges not only nations through commerce but also demonstrates that passion and perseverance transcend all boundaries including age.
